Population of Red WolfsWildlife Service declared red wolves extinct in the wild in 1980. Fewer then 20 were captured to be breed for a chance of survival. Out of those 20, 17 were able to breed. The red wolf can reproduce at the age of 22 months, the mating season takes place in Febuary and March. It takes roughly 61 to 63 days for pups and they usualy come in 1-10 a litter. Now there are about 100 in the wild and 200 in the Species Survival Plan captive breeding program. |
